Dear Friend of the IRR,
Despite the outcry from South Africans, health care professionals, businesses, and
civil society organisations like the IRR, Cyril Ramaphosa has signed the National
Health Insurance (NHI) Bill into law.
NHI will have disastrous consequences, mainly:
-
It will destroy our health care system. We have seen what happens when the ANC controls
critical institutions. NHI will do to our healthcare what Eskom has done to our electricity supply.
-
It will destroy our economy. The threat of NHI will accelerate the emigration of skilled middle-class
South Africans – especially health care professionals – which will lead to a catastrophic
decline in tax revenue and economic productivity.
Even though the bill has been signed, the fight against NHI is not over.
Said John Endres, chief executive of the IRR: “We will continue opposing the
NHI while defending the right of South Africans to choose the health care they want.
Donors with an appetite for litigation are invited to get in touch with my office directly.”
What you can do to help fight NHI
-
Support the IRR. Thank you for your continued support – it has a direct
impact on our ability to promote good ideas and influence policy decisions.
-
Spread good ideas. We encourage you to bring the ideas that we promote in these
newsletters, our publications, and our media appearances into your everyday
conversations. Forward our newsletters to your friends and family, and encourage
them to support the IRR as well.
-
Vote on 29 May. Voting is the most powerful non-violent way to hold the government
accountable. South Africa needs people like you to go to the polls and vote for pro-freedom, pro-growth policies.
